I can personally vouch for our "60's" being a time to shine as your true self. There is a sense of liberation once that milestone has been met, and frankly anything that isn't pulling its weight , adding value, making me smile (or proper laugh), giving me a little frisson of "oooh" is likely to be disengaged from my world. I very recently fell in love with a ceramic sculpture by a local artist Sam Wellington. The female figure is unashamedly naked, roughly formed and quite ugly and , but standing defiant with hands on hips , her nakedness gilded with a splash of gold and a "look" on her face which says "Oh yeah. . . . this is ME want to make something of it?". She came into my life just as my own story crossed a milestone threshold and she now oversees my desk where I work most days. She is going to remind me of my story whenever I fail to remember and I hope she will see me through a few more chapters yet. x
